You have night sights for Ak-47?

Ak-47 owners, do you have night sights on yours and if so, what brand? I have mines stock right now but was considering adding night sights on.

A red dot is more useful day or night than glowing irons.

Standard issue with the Yugo. Just have to replace the vials.

I've been planning on getting xs night sights on one of my ak74 for a while: http://www.xssights.com/store/specialty.html

but my gut tells me the ak sights are really meant for what mike77777 said, spray and pray.

Roger that.......I believe they're Tridium  :ok:

As for myself, I'm saving up for a NV scope.

LOL....... you have a good point ~ they're really more like 'dusk' sights or low level light sights......if it's pitch black your blind without NV.

Re: You have night sights for Ak-47?

Skip the XS night sights. Had two of them go dark on me. Gave up on them. I don't think the vials they use are sturdy enough.

I have a set from Ameriglo that work very well. They aren't cheap at $150 or so. But, I recommend front only. The rear lamps are too bright and too close to the eyes to be useful, a bright blur that tends to overwhelm the front sight. The Ameriglo front sight works great on the Saigas with their wider rear notch and gives a good sight picture.

What do you think the sight radius on an M4 is?

I just shoot mine over and over until the sights are glowing red.

Yup. Those are the same ones I was talking about. The same ones Ameriglo sells. Made by Trijicon. If you want the adjustable rear they work okay, but the notch on the rear blade is too wide, IMO. Stick with the front sight only.

I don't know in fact.

However, my comment was more in regards to my slow target acquisition with ak sights.

Thanks for the replies. I might just get the front sight, as oppose to anything more expensive. At least for now. will that front site that dsarms sells work with this?

Re: You have night sights for Ak-47?

The first shot is going to render any sight on a AK useless.

Bang...Oh shit!!!! I am totaly F#$%# blind by the fireball that just left the muzzle.... Look at the pretty dancing blue and orange balls. I can even see them with my eyes closed.

Spend the money on a flash hider before the sights. Most of the night sites I have used are too bright for braced shot aiming at night and red dots limit my field of view when I am trying the hardest to gather any ambient light in to my eyes. Practice your foot placement so when you bring the rifle up to snap shoot your bodies natural point of aim is dead in front of you.

For practice.

Aim at the target then close your eyes, and then drop the rifle out of the shooting position. Bring the rifle back up to the ready and open your eyes and look at how far you are off target. You are using your eyes to correct bad foot/body position. Move your feet until you have the same point of aim eyes closed or open.

Now if you can get good at that when suprised, then you can make a shot you will hit with day or night.

once things start popin the only ones with real night vison are the observers and snipers. you wont have much time to depend on light as theres gunna b plenty of it. even in daylight. cya :bath:2 each his own.

The M4's sight radius is actually a little shorter than an AK-47's.

Interesting. How do you fair with pistols? Do you know how to use the dog ears or hood?

Try a left offset PK-AS. It ghosts and therefore offers an unobstructed field of view.

Something else worth discussing is tactical lights. You can't shoot what you can't see and the lights have particular advantages when you're working with one or more partners. I like the M60W though a P91 in an M2 bezel overdriven by two IMR 16340's is a powerful incandescent alternative. The runtime is short on that last setup but considering the intermittent use of the light it is adequate for most home defense purposes.

I got a set of E.German clip on for one of my AK's

Old mil-surp with phosphorescent coating.

Not all that great but still a neat setup.

I just put the (ameriglo) front sight on my AK last night. That's all I'll do for now. I'll play with it at some point but I feel better about being able to see mt front sight in low light conditions.

I've heard if you have the front and rear night sights on an AK, the rear are so bright (due to being closer) that you can't hardly see the front sight. Dunno. I'll stick with the front sight for now.

I didn't want to spend more money on optics than the gun was worth. I'm sinking the $$$ in my AR.

I replaced the front post on my ARs with the Trijicon front posts. I really like them and it really helps a lot in low light conditions. In low light, it gives off a great glow and can be easily seen in the rear peep sight on the AR. I like iron sights as opposed to electronics, and I'm impressed with the Trijicons as a low priced alternative to other methods. If I had an AK, I would be adding this to them as well.
